You know how you used to say 'thrice' and then a teacher corrected you to say 'three times' instead? Then you trained yourself until it became natural to say 'three times' and you raised your eyebrow every time someone else said 'thrice'. Occasionally an equally snooty usage conscious one tossed a 'thrice' at you and instead of raising that eyebrow, you started to show worry lines. Well, is it 'thrice' or 'three times'?

Forget the snooty Grammar folks, I like the sound that "thrice" makes. Especially when I hear it said by non-native European speakers.

Im a thrice man myself, whiskey whiskey whiskey. Just like Talaaq Talaaq Talaaq!
I find three times a day bit, hmm, well, rural. Hell with the teachers. If at all have to use three times a day I would use Ter in Di Latin TID
amen.

I keep saying thrice all the time. Even in the UK. Yet to be arrested for that:)

About me

  • I'm Echo/Lavanya
  • From Chennai, India
  • So, we are curious now? My folks named me Lavanya, and it does have a meaning. I named myself Echo, for this blog. And that has a meaning too. Therefore, I have more than one name; I can walk; I can talk; I can read; I can even write; I can count - 9 'I's already and that is absolutely disgusting; I can also lie about numbers. Do you need to hear more?
