I couldn't resist ranting about the Akshaya Tritya hype

So many patterns to keep in mind, so many shops to walk in and out of. And the crowds! Good Lord, she mutters as she finds the road packed with policemen. I am sure The Hindu would have mentioned special bandobast. She hurries in the direction of GRT, oh no, not that crowded one in Usman Road, but the new one in North Usman. Maybe, just maybe, after buying the rhodium coated bangles she will cross the road to Sundari Silks and find a matching saree to wear it with.

Just wondering... Where was this akshaya tritiya five-six years back? Why is there a sudden mad rush for gold on one day of the year?

This is all marketing Crap.
Jewellery shop owners got together one day and discussed, ... "Thhese textile guys have 'Aadi Sale' and they sell sarees like anything, we need to hav something like that" and they decided to come up with this Akshaya something day.

Age old practice, old wine in new bottle whatever u call.
Valentines day, to sell roses and cards.
Mothers day to buy gifts.

All the xyz days are promoted only by retailers to sell stuff.

Welcome to corporate world, where governments to cricket teams are all controlled by corporates.

About me

  • I'm Echo/Lavanya
  • From Chennai, India
  • So, we are curious now? My folks named me Lavanya, and it does have a meaning. I named myself Echo, for this blog. And that has a meaning too. Therefore, I have more than one name; I can walk; I can talk; I can read; I can even write; I can count - 9 'I's already and that is absolutely disgusting; I can also lie about numbers. Do you need to hear more?
