Three Days to go...

...before the Booker 2006 winner is announced. Favourites are always around but do they usually get this cake? Doing it by the Booker recipe, October 10 will throw up a surprise. If it is Matar or Hyland, you'll see my halo getting brighter. If it is Desai, I'll be beaming in delight. If it is Waters or St.Aubyn, it will prove predictions work and I'll be asking why poor Mitchell had to get the axe.

A reader and pal of mine asked me why I didn't scream on the rooftop when the shortlist was announced. For him and other tardy souls, the shortlist came out ages ago, if you don't wake up soon, the winner will be announced too. Yeah, I know you don't know who was shortlisted. So here, sit tight and read:

  • Kiran Desai - The Inheritance of Loss

  • Sarah Waters - The Night Watch

  • MJ Hyland - Carry Me Down

  • Hisham Matar - In the Country of Men

  • Kate Grenville - The Secret River

  • Edward St Aubyn - Mother's Milk
  • About me

    • I'm Echo/Lavanya
    • From Chennai, India
    • So, we are curious now? My folks named me Lavanya, and it does have a meaning. I named myself Echo, for this blog. And that has a meaning too. Therefore, I have more than one name; I can walk; I can talk; I can read; I can even write; I can count - 9 'I's already and that is absolutely disgusting; I can also lie about numbers. Do you need to hear more?
