Alvibest Feb 2006

Alvibest, the magazine, is a passion with a bunch of people over here. And they are out with their latest issue Feb 2006. I read it and enjoyed it a great deal. Oh, I better let you know that this review features in that latest issue (January is over remember? And I am not even mentioning that author's name yet! aside: for those who did not understand the stuff in paranthesis, never mind. It is a silly insignificant joke about an author that I had written a lot about in this blog).

Go on and read the issue. And yeah, that review of the book whose author I shall not speak about? I wrote it.

Liked the review... you should crosspost it here so that people can comment.

I liked the Alvibest layout, but I still think Blogs are a better medium for interactive feedback.

Thanks Karthik. I should be able to crosspost soon. For the moment, the entire review appears only in the pdf version of the magazine.

I subscribed to this magazine.

Oh my!
I finally got the courage to read the review and I did enjoy it. It’s a well written wonderful review.
Looks like Mr. B is not all that scary as I thought he was.

As of the other article, it created quite an impact. The narration and the punch were well placed.
The sentence I really enjoyed was:
"She was a big woman – beautiful in the way antiques are; lost polish from another era showing itself in glimpses and appearing out of place in surroundings that do not nourish the magic of history."
Hat's off!!

@Karthik of Take it ezzz:

Thank you! I am glad you liked the Banville review. And delighted that 'All she had...' was to your taste :)

About me

  • I'm Echo/Lavanya
  • From Chennai, India
  • So, we are curious now? My folks named me Lavanya, and it does have a meaning. I named myself Echo, for this blog. And that has a meaning too. Therefore, I have more than one name; I can walk; I can talk; I can read; I can even write; I can count - 9 'I's already and that is absolutely disgusting; I can also lie about numbers. Do you need to hear more?
